Sheesh! It sure is hard to keep a website updated with some fresh info when you can't even surf the web because you don't have Internet access at your new job yet!

Anyway, I did pull this out of the news for you today. This program might be worth checking out if you have problems with pests. Hmmm, maybe I finally have a use for my broken down old laptop...a $2000 BUG ZAPPER!!! You can download the program from this site if you want to give it a try and let me know if it actually works.

::EDIT::
Found another article for you to ponder tonight. It's a little on the long side, but even if you just read the first few paragraphs, it'll give you some good thinking material. I know I rant about this copyright stuff on here a lot, but that's because it's really that serious. The more I read, the more I get worried about losing the Internet and its potential as a public commons to the big corporations (not to mention the loss of your freedoms in general). Remember my post about the MPAA shutting down your Internet connection? Well, just ask my friend how her buddy just recently lost his RoadRunner connection. This stuff is really happening folks. It's time to get out there, talk to people, raise some awareness, and contact your favorite Congress-critters! The shit hit the fan a long time ago. It's just too bad the corporations snuck in and turned off the fan when no one was looking.

One of these days, remind me to put up a list of links to some good sites that are fighting for the cause...

Wow, since I posted my little rant yesterday, I've been seeing articles and editorials on the Hollywood hacking bill popping up all over. It's even starting to hit the mainstream news sites. I think this may be getting attention more quickly than the dreaded CBDTPA. Either way, I just think it's really interesting that Congress has recently made hacking a terrorist act punishable by up to life in prison, yet they are now proposing to make certain media corporations immune to this? Makes you wonder who the man that introduced this bill is really supporting...

Anyway, enough heavy thinking on a Friday! Do you have a supply of extra mouse pads laying around? Then put them to use and take some inspiration from this guy!

Maybe I'll be lucky enough to have one in my new office, since I am employed and everything now? I gotta tell you, it sure was nice to go to an HTTA mixer for once and not worry about kissing ass for a job.

Well, all the patience and hair-pulling has finally paid off! Yes, you hear me correctly, ladies and gentlemen. This boy finally has a job! As is usual style for my life, it came down to the wire, and i was almost royally screwed, but somehow it all worked out in the end. I'll be working at a local healthcare provider doing all kinds of neat stuff like designing databases and building websites, but anyway, I just wanted to say (uh oh, here's where he pulls a 'Halle Barry at the Oscars') thanks to everyone who helped pull me through my past few months of trauma (you know who you are!).

And in other news, I have just a mini-rant for you since I'm in such a good mood now. I suppose this would be a warning too. Be careful next time you fire up your favorite file-sharing software because 'The Man' is watching, and they can not only send you a letter demanding you to remove the potentially copyright-violating file, but they can also shut you down because surprise, surprise, the same company that makes the music/movie also controls your connection to the Internet! I just think this whole thing is stupid. Do you know how impossible it is to find even a DECENT copy of a song or movie online?! These people are truly out of touch with reality, and now their gophers in Congress are trying to give them the power to legally hack your computer?? I'd say it's high time we start boycotting these companies that are a part of the MPAA and the RIAA, but unfortunately, their prime money-making demographic is a group of people that cares more about the latest steaming pile of pop crap, than worrying about how their rights are being trampled by these companies.

Woo Hoo! Today truly is a good day. I can finally afford to eat again soon!

20020722

Wow, either I just haven't found much to write about lately, or I've just been addicted to my new favorite game. Oops!

Looks like if I ever find a job, I might even get a holiday to celebrate with it. So, remember to give your admin. a hug for SAAD! With all these new holidays floating around, it makes me wonder when the least respected worker in your office is going to get their own Sanitation Engineers Appreciation Day?

Anyway, speaking of jobs, if you didn't happened to hear, I did finally get a couple calls for interviews, so I put on my suit, wrote my thank-yous, and now I'm just waiting, which really sucks! I sure hope something comes through because the job market has seemed even tighter lately if that's even possible...

Oh yeah, still trying to solve those browser layout problems. Do you prefer the current scrolling text box, or the old style of scrolling the whole page? Let me know!

Alright, I got some good news for all you Lord of the Rings fans out there. Not only will there be a special edition of FOTR, but it will be a 3.5 hour cut of the movie! Want to know what was added to the theatrical release? Then check out all the details here.

And in other LOTR news...
I was hoping we'd left most of this PC crap in the 90's. Yeah, I know that it was a tragic event...but, c'mon! It's a fantasy movie based on a book written over 50 years ago! I don't know...sometimes I think the world could be a little better if people worried less about hurting others feelings or suing those who have hurt their feelings.

I've been hearing rumors of problems viewing V.2 on a Mac. If you have troubles viewing the page, let me know what kind of problems you're having so I can fix them. You're also more than welcome to give me feedback on whether you love or hate the new design.

Let the commenting begin!

He's back! A little behind schedule, but I'm here. Have some patience as I get the rest of the site back up, and then I'll be back with some rants, raves, and some of the freshest news out there in cyberspace...

Thanks for tuning in!

Back from the great beyond? Nah, I've just been playing with photoshop and flash. I've been looking at some design sites around the web, and I've been feeling pretty inferior lately (not to mention the fact that I can't get a job). But anyway, I decided to spruce up the ol' site, so hopefully, you should be seeing a facelift in the next few days. But in the mean-time, are you a commercial copycat, or do you have a fresh style?

And for those of you with way too much time on your hands (not that there's anything wrong with that), why don't you freeze some lego people and try a mouse mod?

Anyway, see you all back here in a few days with a new layout (hopefully).

Since I am a Bruce Lee fan, I watched Bruce Lee: A Warrior's Journey today. The Game of Death recreation was saved until the end of the documentary (of course!), but there were also some old interview clips that did justice to his life's philosophy quite well. I'm no expert on his philosophies though, so don't quote me, but I am fully qualified to say that the scenes from The Game of Death were very cool (corny 70's dialogue and all) and included Escrima, Hapkido, and about 3 styles of Kung Fu. If they show this one again, make sure you don't miss it!

And now, a little FYI brought to you by the FAA. Next time you decide to fly the friendly skies, make sure you pack a portable breathalyzer kit to go along with your portable anti-terrorist kit. It may actually come in handy, folks.

I need to get out of this rut...

It's going to be another one of those weeks. I read the Sunday paper, return to my bad mood, wait for the week to end, and the cycle begins again. Bah, humbug! I wonder if Jack in the Box™ is hiring? But anyway, since the rest of the world continues on its merry way, I did find some interesting tidbits for the day:

For all you Bruce Lee fans, there will be a documentary on his last film, The Game of Death. The filmmaker attempts to recreate the film as it was originally scripted, so there could be some pretty cool stuff to see. It will air on AMC on Tuesday, July 2 at 2pm and 4pm for those of you in Hawaii, but if you live elsewhere, check your local listings.

In other news, be careful the next time you leave a microphone recording in an empty room. It could get you sued for copyright infringement. ‹lamejoke›I guess that means silence really is golden!‹/lamejoke›
